I subscribe to numerous job–related communications and one of those is the Outplacement Report by AIRS (http://www.airsdirectory.com/) that includes a list of companies that are reducing staff. As I was reading it last week, I wondered how job seekers typically react when they read about layoffs and downsizings.
So, what is your immediate reaction?
–– do you generalize that those companies are not hiring and scratch them off your list?
–– do you recognize that sometimes restructuring presents great opportunities?
While not always true, the last statement is often true. Of course, what is also true is that those opportunities are rarely published openings.
