AGE BIAS

Great article in Career Journal this week on the increasing interest in grey-haired workers. With a projected shortage of skilled workers anticipated to hit hard in the next five to 10 years, companies are beginning to recognize the value of the mature worker.

"Age bias is about as common as coffee in the workplace, but there are signs that may be changing as a small but growing number of companies seeks to attract older workers.

These companies, including Adecco, Borders, Principal Financial, Manpower, Walgreens and Pitney Bowes , "have committed to an aggressive program of recruiting, hiring, and retaining mature workers," according to AARP."
